Plus Size Style is sometimes very limited, and when someone tries to bring this up they are shot down immediately by those who complain that plus size folks should just go on a diet. Well, folks, rude awakening. It isn't that easy folks. Yes, there are some people that can lose weight easy, but there are many others that cannot. So, get off your holier than thou attitude, and instead let's speak the positive. And, the positive can be found in a really cool store, Torrid. My daughter introduced me to Torrid, she would drag me in there while she was looking for cool skulls and roses on leggings; or any other items similar. So, my first thought about Torrid was that they were just not my style. Well, I have learned that is not true. I bought my first item from Torrid, and paid full price (which I just DO NOT do!) for a really fun blue floral (and, I am not a floral person, either) maxi near sheer cardigan. It was amazing, until it disappeared. I fear I took it off at work, and left it. Because it has literally disappeared and it had become one of my favorite pieces to wear. I have sense purchased several other pieces, including a pair of sequined leggings! That is a purchase I never thought I would make! Now, I will admit that their knit items will pill quickly, however, the price you pay for them makes that an easier pill to swallow. I have a great cotton blouse that has worn like iron. So, it is hit and miss with the quality, but the fashions are fun. It is not a classic store, it has it's definitive style. The romantic and the dramatic will love this store. A classic will find few, if any, things . A natural will love their novelty tee shirts. So, step inside Torrid next time you are in the mall. It's a fun experience! Their sizes start at a size Medium to Plus Size.. It's a great store!!

LulaRoe is a new clothing line available only through consultants. However, it is more of an adventure than a shopping show. Where most of us are used to being able to call or email our clothing consultant and place an order, with LulaRoe you have to go to the pop up boutique or be a member of a LulaRoe group on Facebook. If you don't choose a piece the day you see, it may not be there the next time you attend the pop up boutique. I don't think the consultants have much control over what they are given. I will say that the Carly dress is one of my new favorite items, ever. It isn't overly flattering, but if you want comfy, this is the dress to have. BUT, the item that they are known for are the leggings. I love the leggings. I really love the leggings. See...I have a long torso, and bathing suits, pantyhose, and leggings do NOT LIKE LONG TORSOS!!! LulaRoe has a size called, Tall and Curvy...it is amazing, I love the fit! I doubt I will buy any other brand of leggings ever again. Except, one drawback...they like prints, solids not so much. Sometimes, you just need a solid! I also like the Cassie skirt, it is fun. However, it would be short on anyone with any height. I'm all of 5 foot 3 inches, barely. And it comes to my knees, so anyone else, it will be a SHORT skirt. I also like the Perfect Tee that I get in a 3X so that it is real flowy and NOT clingy. I'll let you know more on the Maxi, I plan on getting that soon. I am finding that I just don't like jeans in the summer, so I need some fun dresses and skirts to live in for the next six months (it's Memphis, our summers are six months or longer). Yes, it is all of those things! Amazing, right? I was hesitant, I have counseled people against lip stains because they are drying, extremely drying. I tried LipSense. There was a tingle on my lips as I applied it. Okay. That was at 7pm, by the morning, I was sold. My lips were soft, and the color was still there. I was A.M.A.Z.E.D. How amazed was I? So amazed that I actually signed up to sell it! Yes. I did. I'm still in amazement myself. Everyone that I have shown LipSense to has purchased it. That in and of itself is a miracle! This is great product. Now, it is also an entire makeup line. I have only tried a few things. The skin care is great, but I haven't seen many skin care MLM's that weren't a good product. The liquid makeup has good coverage, and I was impressed that just by using the image on the website I was able to match my face. Now, that said...I have a warm skin tone, but I have super, super white skin...very white...absolutely white. There are some freckles to break up the monotony, but mostly white and if that isn't white enough, my neck is whiter! (A 'symptom' of warm skin tones, a lighter neck than face, which makes matching foundation even more difficult.) I was impressed with the foundation. The other product I have been able to try is the ShadowSense. I love liquid eye shadow, but it doesn't love me. I'm in need of migraine medicine and Benedryl in less than an hour of application. So, with that history, I was also hesitant to try the ShadowSense because it is liquid to powder. It comes in the same type of container the LipSense comes in. I chose one of the lightest shades, and I loved it!!! No headache. No watery eyes and runny nose. They have something great going on here!! This is a product we can get behind, definitely!! There is ONE drawback. They are in a huge growth spurt, and cannot keep up with orders. They have at least a million different colors (okay, maybe not that many), which makes it even more difficult to keep up with the colors. It makes trying to get the color you want very difficult. Very difficult. I would suggest getting two of the color you want. I do hope that two things happen, 1. They realize that they have way tooooo many colors and need to pare them down. 2. They get the production figured out, mostly by decreasing the number of colors offered. Click here for instructions on how to purchase. I've tried Valentia products before, and I love the softness of them. I also love the slight hint of citrus. They asked me to review two new products, their True Glow Eye Cream and the Ultra Pumping Hydrating Mask. I agreed immediately. And, again, I was not disappointed. The softness is there, the hint of citrus is there. I love eye cream, so I have reviewed many of them. Valentia rates high on my list. This Eye Cream is so light, and leaves you skin so soft. It is not greasy, and doesn't take a lot of 'rubbing' to absorb. Extra rubbing is not something you want to do around the eye area. The Eye Cream actually was part of a set, the second part was the Ultra Pumping Hydrating Mask. Though, I love the Eye Cream...the Mask, heavenly. It is wonderful. I can't even begin to explain how wonderful. It is orange tinted, has that wonderful clean citrus flavor, and is soft and gel-like. It goes on smooth and easy. It doesn't pull on your skin, it dries soft and pretty. The way it feels you might think that it isn't really doing the job, but your face will feel so soft and clean; you know it did do it's job. I'm one that will forget the mask, and before I know it, a few weeks has gone by. I don't forget with this mask, I love the feeling too much. Valentia's product line is growing, and I'm excited to try other products! This is a great line, and once you start using one product you will want to try to others. It is an on line company. The site is: http://www.valentia.com . Smart and Light is perfect for the person that doesn't want to attend meetings, be weighed-in in front of other people, or can't afford a gym membership or just is too self conscience to attend a gym exercise class. Founded by Sophie Reverdi, a woman from France who went through the humiliation of being overweight in a very weight conscience society in Europe. Her parents sent her to camps (here in the United States) and doctors to 'fix' her. As an adult she began to realize that there must be a way for those who are predisposed to gain weight to be able to lose weight, as well as those who have gained weight through simply aging, through pregnancy, or their own habits. Reverdi worked with doctors to develop a plan that would work. Reverdi's plan is a 60-day program that includes a logbook, on line encouragement, on line physical fitness, and on line instruction by a chef. The program is done in France, so the videos are dubbed in English, however, they are still very easy to watch, simple to follow, and just long enough to get the information across. The food preparation videos are my favorite, and I have watched some of them more than once to make sure I got what was being said. The personal trainer is descriptive, and he does exercises that the person that has not done much more than walk around their house or the mall can still do. Reverdi has encouragement videos, that one can overlook! So, make sure you make a mental note to watch them! Remember, she has been there, and she can encourage! The meal plan changes each week, starting with not much more than tomatoes that one can eat! (That is an exaggeration!) Each week you add a food. Plan now that pre-prepared foods are not on the lists! Fresh foods are what you will be eating. Reverdi even put together the shopping list you will need each week! She has thought of everything! What I found in doing the plan is that your body goes through a chemical change, for lack of a better word! Basically, you pull you body off of the junk and it begins to function in the way it is supposed to! My aches and pains waned. I wasn't surprised, I had an idea that I was eating things that were causing some of my aches. What I found out my downfall food is, is white flour. (No, I'm not on the gluten free kick, it is simply the white processed flour,) Something is in that processed flour that doesn't like my system. I was completely off of flour products, and we were at an outdoor fair. It was hot, I hadn't eaten since early that morning, and I was starting to really feel awful. I caved, and ate at one of the vendors at the fair, I had a ham and cheese slider. By that night, the aching along the back of my lower legs from the heel of my foot up my calf was back! I stayed off of white processed flour (just as the program states) and then there was another situation (honestly I don't remember what it was!) and I bailed and had white processed flour...kind of in an experiment mode, too. The same aches came back. That was it, I was done with white processed flour. Now, I can't lose weight. The last diet I went on was the hcg diet, and I lost 35 pounds with it. When I went back on it, I lost 10 pounds (after gaining back about 10 pounds). I kept it off for a couple of years, and then all of a sudden it came back, with another 10 pounds. I had given up, I was watching everything I ate to just keep from gaining. No losing, just no gaining, sometimes. I had resigned myself to this new me. I didn't like it one bit. I was walking with my daughter every day, and that helped with some of the stiffness, but no weight loss. I went on this program and I have lost 10 pounds! I lost another one pound. Now, I'm having trouble losing anymore; but I don't really care because I'm losing inches. I have pulled out some clothes that I had put away. That made my day! I'm going to keep it up, and I'm not giving up. This works. Also, you don't feel like you are deprived because, the next week you will get to add another food back into your diet! So, you can make it to the next week! They have given us a coupon code for our YTC readers, YTC50. Go to their site, http://www.smartandlight.com . The log book is available at Amazon, http://www.amazon.com/Smart-Light-Program-Logbook-weight/dp/151485306X (the coupon is not for the logbook, it is for the program). I like the logbook because you have the program in your hand and you don't have to keep going back to the website! But, I do like a book in my hand! Cuddle + Kind is a new company that has an amazing product, cute and adorable hand knitted stuffed dolls. The amazing part of this new company is that for each doll purchased you purchase 10 meals for hungry children around the world through their giving partners, World Food Program USA and Children’s Hunger Fund.
The company has placed the dolls on the Indiegogo site, and they have already surpassed their goal. That alone should tell you how cute and adorable the dolls are. The dolls are a retro toy that has all the hand knitted cuddle power and none of the mass production low quality. The kindness comes into play with the ability to aid in erasing children's hunger. Who can walk away from that? Just in time for the holidays, some of the cutest dolls one can imagine. The reindeer and penguin are perfect holiday gifts for the little one in your world. Social Media for the company will keep you up to date on the progress of the Indiegogo campaign. (Which ends Oct. 16, 2015) http://www.facebook.com/cuddleandkind http://www.instagram.com/cuddleandkind http://www.pinterest.com/cuddleandkind I am one of those people that does not do makeup when I am going to be outside and hot and sweaty and it isn’t an outdoor party. Things like camping, sightseeing, fairs, etc., those do not warrant a full makeup face. I admit, I wish it did. However, I am very fair. So, to spend all day in the sun would be sheer torture afterwards for me. It just is not worth it. So, tinted sunscreen caught my eye.
We had planned on going to the Mid South Renaissance Fair, and I was all set to use the sunscreen. Then it rained. Oh, not just rained, it poured. Oh, not just poured, we had flash floods in areas! So, now what. I changed the date on when I would do the post to after the next weekend, when we hoped we could go to the Ren Fair. (Amazingly enough, it was around for two weekends!) Now, I say that I needed to do this Fair for testing the product; but, I did use it when I mowed the yard. A task for which I truly never wear makeup! After just over an hour of mowing our yard, that has no trees, my face is always red. But, since it was just an hour, I really didn’t think any of it was the sun. Hmmm, I was not as red as usual. Go figure! Now, was that because I had on tinted sunscreen, meaning the sunscreen was covering the red? Nope. After I washed my face, it still was not as red as usual. Noted, for future reference. So, I am also leery of any product that is a one size fits all for shades of makeup. Because I am not a one size fits all for makeup shades. And, my daughter is even fairer than me. In fact, when I told her to use it, she said, “NO!” She wasn’t going to walk around the Ren Fair with a brown tinted face; or worse, an orange tinted face. So, I put it on her; all around the pouting. Then I made her look in the mirror. Her demeanor changed. She is not one to put sunscreen on her face because it burns her eyes when it sweats off, and I agree with her on that! While in Las Vegas one summer, I used Arbonne’s FC5 Day Cream that has a 20 SPF. It is the only thing I have used that did not burn my eyes as I sweat it off, and it worked, no facial or neck sunburn. Oz Naturals has a good track record with me, there has not been one product I have not liked from them, in fact, featured the entire line in our Good Finds section of our magazine (http://issuu.com/yourtruecolours/docs/your_true_colours_august_2015/12) So, after a day of observing jousting, fortune tellers, pirates, Lords and Ladies, Knightings, the Queen’s Court, bagpipes, court jesters, archery and some great food and great buys, did it work? I actually laughed when I looked in the mirror after the shower (Yes, in August in Memphis and you spend the day outside from 11am – 3pm, when you get home you shower, because you are soaking wet. The joys of humidity.) I just knew that I would be burned beside my eyes where I kept wiping sweat away, or along my forehead late in the day when I finally had to wipe sweat from there with a napkin and the tint came off on the napkin. Nope. No burn. Well, that isn’t true. I did burn. At my hairline, you could exactly tell where I put the tinted sunscreen, it was a straight line. And it was there Sunday, and Monday, and it was a little less today, Tuesday. But, no burn on face, none. As for my daughter, who always burns no matter what…she used aloe lotion when she got home…but not on her face. She was not burned, either. What I really liked about this was that I didn’t feel completely ‘naked’, I felt a little bit made up in the blistering heat! And, I made it all day without one photo of me. Sorry. There was just too many other ‘characters’ who needed to have their photo taken! THIS MEDIUM TINTED, moisturizing sunscreen blends well with most skin shades and evens-out skin tone, in addition to protecting skin from the sun’s harmful rays. I’ve been impressed with Healthy Directions products so far. And, their latest to send to me has not disappointed, either. The OxyRub Pain Relief Cream has menthol, emollients, and oxygenated essential oil as the active ingredients. And, amazingly, the menthol does not linger. They also say that it stops the aches and pains on contact. I didn’t see that it worked on contact, but it was very soon after (so, that is probably within the realm of ‘on contact’). It eased my aching ankles and legs that were walking fast for 30 minutes in the wrong shoes. The first night, didn’t hurt. The second night, didn’t hurt. The third night, sleep was not going to be my friend. It was late, and I wanted to have something that was quick, not ibuprofen. Then I remembered I had the OxyRub Pain Relief Cream…so, I put it to the test. I was able to get comfy and get to sleep, no aches. A couple of nights later, I did it again. A couple of nights later, once again. And, now it has been almost a week since I have had to use it. _And, yes, we did go looking for some shoes for my walking excursions. But I wasn’t impressed with anything that was in the stores we stopped in. So, until I get the right shoes, this tube of pain relief cream is on my nightstand. I do recommend it. I do like that it has essential oils. What I use most of the time for aches and pains is a specific blend of essential oil, but it does have a lingering aroma. I don’t mind it, but it does scream, “I have used a topical pain relief medicine!” That is one thing I like about the OxyRub Pain Relief Cream. If I have to go somewhere, it will be my ‘go to’ cream so that there will be no pain medicine lingering in the air! No, don’t get me wrong…there is that menthol smell, it just doesn’t hang around. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EASY536 http://www.healthydirections.com/product/oxyrub Healthy Directions is offering you, my readers, a 20% discount on your first tube of OxyRub Pain Relief Cream! When you order it through Amazon, use the Reader Discount Code: SAVEOXY2 This code is good until 12/31/2015. |
